DEPUTY STORM’s 3-year-old son DEPUTY FLING made four starts in six weeks during the summer of 2011, going from maiden winner to stakes winner. After setting a course record at Colonial Downs in the 5 1/2-furlong Bert Allen S. at the end of July, he added a victory in Monmouth Park’s Gilded Time S. to increase his record to three wins and a second in five starts.
Quick on the draw has been the trademark of this deputy. His brilliance was on display at 2 with a 4-length score in Monmouth’s Tyro S. while well in hand. He displayed dazzling speed in the 6 fur. Sapling S.-G3 to finish second after posting fractions of :21 1/5, :43 4/5 and :56 3/5. In his 3-year-old debut, DEPUTY STORM blistered the Gulfstream Park strip in the Gr.2 Hutcheson S., and finished behind only LIMEHOUSE after 7 fur. in 1:221/5.
