Great Notion Colt Brings $60,000 At Timonium

Leads Maryland Sires On First Day Of Sale

05/19/2009- A juvenile colt from GREAT NOTION’s second crop sold for $60,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic 2-year-olds in training sale on May 18 in Timonium. He was the highest-priced Maryland-sired 2-year-old sold on the first day of the two-day sale.

Consigned by agent Lynne Boutte, the bay Pennsylvania-bred named Belle’s Notion was purchased by Dennis and Eileen Jacques. From the family of champion Lord Avie, the colt is out of the placed mare Belle’s Miss (by Press Card); his second dam is stakes winner Northland Belle (by Carnivalay), a half-sister to graded winner Primitive Hall. Belle’s Notion was sold as a weanling by the estate of Sam Guiffrida for $1,700 at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic December Mixed sale in 2007.

GREAT NOTION, Maryland’s leading freshman sire of 2008, is the sire of two stakes winners from just 17 starters in his first crop. Catch his second crop of 32 juveniles at the races soon!
