Summer Heros At Colonial Downs
Partner's Hero Runners Love Lush Turf With Stakes Scores
07/04/2009- It’s loud and clear that runners by PARTNER’S HERO just love the expansive Colonial Downs turf course! IZZY SPEAKING (pictured) spoke volumes with a daylight score in the Da Hoss S. on June 27 over the lush lawn, and 3-year-old filly Listentothewindblo, tackling older runners, rallied to finish third in the Brookmeade S. on July 4.
IZZY SPEAKING made it two in a row at Colonial with the stakes win. The 4-year-old owned and trained by Hamilton Smith showed his diversity with a dominating victory in a 5 1/2 fur. off-the-turf allowance on June 15, which had the bay gelding primed for the Da Hoss. Stretching out to a mile on the grass, IZZY SPEAKING turned on the afterburners after getting stuck in traffic. Bred in Maryland by Bob Manfuso and Katy Voss, IZZY SPEAKING was also a stakes winner at 2.
Listentothewindblo became PARTNER’S HERO’s fifth stakes horse this year. Larry Johnson’s homebred is a full sister to 2009 stakes performer What Time It Is. PARTNER’S HERO, among the top five sires in PA this year, is also represented in 2009 by graded superstar turf runner and near millionaire HEROS REWARD!
