F7098EA3 44EE 4F72 8478 EA24F92488DATrack record-setting, Grade 1-placed Uncle Lino, the first son of red-hot young sire Uncle Mo to stand in the Mid-Atlantic region, is set to enter stud at Northview PA in Peach Bottom, Pa. His stud fee is $4,000 live foal.

“Northview has been looking extremely hard for a son of Uncle Mo,” said Northview president and CEO Richard Golden. “Uncle Lino has checked all of our boxes. We are very excited to be able to offer Uncle Lino to our breeders for 2017.”

Uncle Lino retires with six wins or placings in eight starts for earnings of $316,160. He ran six times from January through May 2016, and set a track record in winning the California Chrome Stakes at Los Alamitos in April. Leading at every call, he completed the 1 1/16-mile distance in 1:40.82, breaking the previous mark set by Dortmund. He finished second earlier in the year to Mor Spirit in the Robert B. Lewis Stakes-G3 and was third in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby to Exaggerator and Mor Spirit.

He displayed his speed right out of the gate in his two starts at 2, missing by a neck in his debut at Del Mar after battling for the lead the entire 5 furlongs, and winning second time out, also at Del Mar, drawing off to win by 2 3/4 lengths while setting fractions of :22.02, :45.08 and 1:09.58 and stopping the clock in 1:16.28 for 6 1/2 furlongs.

One of nearly two dozen stakes winners in the first crop of Uncle Mo, the third-ranked stallion in the nation in 2016 with progeny earnings of $12.3 million with just two crops to race, Uncle Lino is out of the Orientate mare Haysee, a full sister to Alabama Stakes-G1 winner Lady Joanne and half-sister to classic winner Shackleford ($3,090,101, Preakness S-G1, Metropolitan H-G1, Clark H-G1, etc.), graded winners Baghdaria and Afleeting Lady and stakes-winning, graded stakes-placed Stephanoatsee. Shackleford ranked in the top-10 among sires on the nation’s freshman sires list in 2016, and tied for second by number of winners, which included graded winner Wellabled.
