GREAT NOTION Locks Up Great Saturday

HAVELOCK-A800GREAT NOTION's multiple graded turf sprint-winning son HAVELOCK grabbed his first graded win on the main track, and first beyond seven furlongs, with a well-timed ride from Florent Geroux in the $150,000 Hanshin Cup S.-G3 at Arlington Park on Saturday, May 19.

Silverton Hill LLC's homebred surged past Lonesome Street in deep stretch to win by a neck, completing a mile over the Polytrack in 1:37.10.

It was the fourth stakes win, and third in graded company, for HAVELOCK, who pushed his career earnings to $461,129 from 18 starts. The 5-year-old gelding is trained by Darrin Miller, who also trained stakes winner and graded-placed GREAT NOTION.

The sire of nearly 75 percent winners from starters, GREAT NOTION has nine stakes horses in his first four crops, including JAZZY IDEA, who followed a stakes win at Belmont Park just over two weeks earlier with a solid second in The Very One S. at Pimlico on Friday, May 18. In four starts this year at 3, JAZZY IDEA has two wins and two seconds, for total earnings of $155,030.
