Winning down under – E DUBAI’s daughter DUBAI BELLE

DubaiBelleNew Zealand mare DUBAI BELLE turned back a large field of talented milers in the Group 3 Merial Ancare Metric Mile at her home course of Awapuni on Saturday, Sept. 15.

Trained by Tony Bambry, 5-year-old DUBAI BELLE got her sixth career win by turning back Amberio to take the stakes by a head. It was the first stakes win for her trainer, as well as her owner/breeder, Robin Hapi. “She’s a quality mare and always showed us she was capable of winning a race like this,” said Bambry. “I think she’s got a big future. And Robert Hannam rode a great race.”

Bambry said the immediate plan for Dubai Belle would be a trip to Hawera for the Group 3 Taranaki Breeders’ S. on Oct. 13.

E DUBAI stood five seasons in the Southern Hemisphere, and two of his 15 career graded/group winners have come down under. E DUBAI has six stakes winners in 2012, three of them in graded/group company, led by Grade 1 winner FORT LARNED, winner of the Whitney Invitational H.-G1 in August, and Honeymoon H.-G2 winner MY GI GI. The top-ranked sire in the Mid-Atlantic region in 2012, E DUBAI has seasonal earnings in excess of $4 million through mid-September.
