WILLET became JUMP START’s sixth stakes winner of 2013 when she won the $100,000 Union Avenue S. at Saratoga on August 19. She gained control at the top of the stretch in the six-furlong main track stakes and won by a length and three-quarters. It was the second career stakes win for the 5-year-old mare owned by James H. Iselin, Charlotte Assoulin and Eli Gindi, and the 10th time in 11 starts that she has been third or better. In July she finished second in a three-way photo in Saratoga’s Lotsa Talc S., and won or placed in three stakes in 2012, including a second, beaten a neck, in Aqueduct’s Go for Wand H.-G2.
Just two days earlier JUMP START’s millionaire son PRAYER FOR RELIEF padded his bank account with a win in the $175,000 Governor’s Cup S. at Remington Park. And on Sunday, August 18, SAN PABLO just missed taking his second consecutive Philip H. Iselin S.-G3 by a head finishing second at Monmouth after a furious stretch duel.
In a little over a week, JUMP START had juveniles from his first Pennsylvania-sired crop score at Monmouth, Indiana Downs and Parx Racing. His son Elevated captured his second win in as many tries with a strong finish going five and a half furlongs in allowance company at Parx on August 19 to push his earnings to $77,280. Bump Start won a maiden special weight first time out by nearly 10 lengths at Indiana Downs on August 13, two days before Just Call Kenny scored by three lengths in a Monmouth Park maiden special weight in his first start.
With 35 stakes winners in his first seven crops, progeny earnings in excess of $28 million and average earnings per runner of nearly $75,000, plus three out of four winners per starters, JUMP START is the place to start to get to the winner’s circle!
