PANTS ON FIRE's second graded stakes win in row couldn't have been more impressive, as the millionaire son of JUMP START pulled away to win the Grade 3 Ack Ack H. by nearly three lengths in a jaw-dropping 1:33.78 for the one mile over Churchill Downs' famed dirt oval. The time is a new stakes record, and came within .48 seconds of the track record!
Owner/breeders George and Lori Hall and trainer Kelly Breen are now thinking Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile-G1 for their star runner, with eyes on a trip to Japan in the future. The 5-year-old, who has made 22 starts over four seasons, earning $1,197,635 with eight wins, three seconds and four thirds, was the 121-pound top weight in the field of eight for the Ack Ack, his fifth career stakes win and fourth graded. The New Jersey-based runner had captured the Monmouth Cup S.-G2 in his previous start, and at 3 won the Louisiana Derby-G2 and Pegasus S.-G3.
PANTS ON FIRE is one of three millionaires from JUMP START's eight crops of racing age. JUMP START has sired 37 stakes winners, nine of them graded, and ranks as the leading active Mid-Atlantic sire by number of stakes winners in 2013 with eight to date.
