SILVER TRAIN’s Scandinavian wonder gets Group 3 win

SilverOceanSILVER OCEAN, a 4-year-old son of SILVER TRAIN, skipped back to Norway to record his first group win, taking the Group 3 Polar Cup on Thursday, August 2. It was the second stakes win in a row for the Kentucky-bred gelding, after taking the Swedish Open Mile at Taby on July 14.

A two-time stakes winner in Italy earlier in his career and Group 2-placed in Germany, SILVER OCEAN ranked as the highweighted 3-year-old in Italy from 7 to 91⁄2 furlongs. With lifetime earnings of nearly $300,000, he is SILVER TRAIN’s second richest runner to date.

SILVER TRAIN’s slew of international runners in his first three crops include Group 1 winner ENAITZ (in Mexico). Half of SILVER TRAIN’s 10 stakes winners are now winners in graded/group races and he is one of the top 10 North America-based third-crop sires by lifetime earnings, with $5.6 million.
