Talented sprinter STREET MAGICIAN, a graded stakes winner from the first crop of leading international sire STREET CRY (IRE), was immensely popular in his first season at stud at Northview Stallion Station in Chesapeake City, Md., in 2011.
There is much to like. Campaigned by his breeder, R. Larry Johnson, STREET MAGICIAN won half of his 10 career starts, including three stakes. During his 3-year-old season, he captured the Gr. 3 Hirsch Jacobs S. at 6 fur. on the Preakness undercard, as well as Gulfstream Park’s $175,000 Aventura S. at 7 fur. in his stakes debut. His first win, in a 6 fur. maiden special at Gulfstream Park in his second career start, earned him a 100 Beyer Speed Figure.
In his first start on a synthetic track, STREET MAGICIAN led throughout in the 5 1/2 fur. $100,000 Karl Boyes Memorial Northwestern PA S. at Presque Isle Downs, setting a track record of 1:02.24 while recording a 102 Beyer. He retires with career earnings of $254,440.
“I am excited to get this son of the great sire, Street Cry, to Northview,” said Northview’s Richard Golden upon the young stallion’s arrival. “STREET MAGICIAN was an exceptionally fast race horse who competed against the best of his generation. He is a very correct stallion who descends from a highly successful female family. Adding STREET MAGICIAN to our roster reflects the confidence we have in the fundamental soundness of the Mid-Atlantic breeding market.”
The first son of STREET CRY to stand in the Mid-Atlantic region, STREET MAGICIAN is out of the Meadowlake mare, Magical Meadow, a half-sister to the dam of multiple graded stakes-placed STRIKE THE MOON, winner of the $400,000 Charles Town Oaks in 2011. His second dam, stakes winner SPECIAL KELL, is a half-sister to stakes winner and multiple stakes producer TURN TO T. J. The productive family, well-known in the Mid-Atlantic region, has more than two dozen stakes horses descending from STREET MAGICIAN’s third dam, RAN’S CHICK.
