All aboard! Breeders’ Cup Sprint-G1 winner SILVER TRAIN has made his way to Pennsylvania. And breeders will benefit from this mighty engine’s arrival.
One of the best stallions of his generation, SILVER TRAIN ranks among the top-10 third-crop sires in the nation in 2012! His son J J’S LUCKY TRAIN, a graded stakes winner last year at 3, hit the board in Aqueduct’s Rise Jim S. in his 4-year-old debut. It was J J’S LUCKY TRAIN’s eighth time on the board in stakes company, from 14 starts, and pushed his earnings to $411,614.
SILVER TRAIN has sired the earners of nearly $600,000 in the first quarter of 2012, with his 3-year-old son Zetterholm winning back-to-back races at Aqueduct to add $78,200 to that total, and his 3-year-old daughter Sugadadeze going undefeated in four starts for the year. The SILVER TRAINs are on a roll!
Among the national leaders every year since his first crop came to the races in 2010, SILVER TRAIN ranked as the leading second-crop sire by number of winners in 2011, and was among the top-10 freshman sires by earnings in 2010. He is the sire of 18 stakes horses in his first two crops!
SILVER TRAIN was a locomotive on the track. At 3, he defeated older runners in the most important six-furlong race in the world, the Gr.1 Breeders’ Cup Sprint. He captured the one mile Gr. 2 Jerome H. by five lengths. In seven starts for the season, he hit the board in six, four of them stakes.
The son of top-class runner OLD TRIESTE came back at 4 to capture one of the most revered handicap tests in the country, the Gr. 1 Metropolitan H., and added a victory in the Gr. 2 Tom Fool H. He concluded his career with a third-place finish in the Gr. 1 Cigar Mile. From 17 lifetime starts, he earned $1,259,345 with 13 on-the-board finishes.
An A.P. INDY-line stallion, SILVER TRAIN is out the 100 percent producer RIDDEN IN THESTARS, a stakes-placed daughter of CORMORANT. Winning is the only destination for this train!
