Two new stakes winners in 10 days for DANCE WITH RAVENS!

PhilDancer PhilmontStks 001-2Silver Lake Stable’s PHIL DANCER accelerated in the stretch take charge in Parx Racing’s $75,000 Philmont S. on Tuesday, April 24 and record his first stakes victory. The Pennsylvania-bred son of DANCE WITH RAVENS got his third win from five starts in the seven-furlong test for 3-year-olds, and boosted his career earnings to $113,017.

Bred by Russell B. Harris, Craig R. Harris and Jeffrey A. Harris, PHIL DANCER displayed the same fancy footwork his full sister, ANN’S SMART DANCER, showed off in 2011 when winning three stakes. The dazzling duo are the first two foals out of the Ide mare Bennington.

DANCE WITH RAVENS is on target for his best season yet. Currently Maryland’s leading sire of 2012, with nearly $1 million in progeny earnings (from his first three crops to race), DANCE WITH RAVENS is also the sire of 2012 stakes winner DARN THAT RAVEN, winner of the Foxy J. G. S. at Parx on April 14.

And more fancy footwork: DANCE WITH RAVENS’s high-percentage-winning daughter Universal Language has four victories from six starts this year, plus two seconds, to boost her record to 36-12-6-4 lifetime, with earnings of $246,100.

Super Saturday around the country!

outtatune4-14jeffcoadyTwo stakes winners for JUMP START, one each for DANCE WITH RAVENS and LION HEARTED on April 14

JUMP START’s son OUTTA TUNE, a former claimer who has had a longtime home in leading owner Maggi Moss’s stable, turned in a stellar effort to win Oaklawn Park’s Gr. 3 $250,000 Count Fleet H. on Saturday, April 14.

In his first open stakes attempt in 44 career starts, 7-year-old OUTTA TUNE pushed odds-on favorite Izzy Rules through the opening half mile before driving home in 1:09.35 for six furlongs. Undefeated in four starts this year, the dark bay got his 17th lifetime win to push his career earnings total to $386,663, more than $200,000 amassed this year.

About a hour earlier, JUMP START’s veteran stakes campaigner GOLDDIGGER’S BOY got the spoils in the $75,000 Lyman H. at Parx Racing. The 5-year-old owned by William J. Rogue Romance is on his way back!

rogue-romanceROGUE ROMANCE, the most accomplished juvenile runner for SMARTY JONES when he captured the Gr. 3 Bourbon S. and was third in the Gr. 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile S. in 2010, returned after more than a year off to dazzle in a one-mile allowance at Gulfstream Park on Saturday, March 31.

The chestnut 4-year-old, who was last seen when third in the Risen Star S.-G2 at Fair Grounds in February 2011, stalked the pace, gained the lead at the eighth pole, and drew off to win by three lengths over a field that included graded winners Gourmet Dinner and Watch Me Go.

A promising Triple Crown contender a year ago, the Catesby W. Clay-owned, Ken McPeek-trained colt broke a wing bone in his foot while galloping in preparations for the Louisiana Derby. The fracture took six months to heal, said McPeek, who added ROGUE ROMANCE will now be pointed to Keeneland’s Gr. 3 Ben Ali H. (at a mile and an eighth) on April 22. Add a comment Add a comment

Three in a row for ZETTERHOLM!

zetterholmTriple Crown nominee ZETTERHOLM got his first stakes win in his stakes debut in Aqueduct’s Patsyprospect S. on Friday, April 6. The son of SILVER TRAIN loped along at the back of the five-horse field before unleashing a run that took him to the wire two and a quarter lengths to the better of Sportswriter.

In capturing the one-mile Patsyprospect S., ZETTERHOLM got his third win in a row, and boosted his career earnings to $123,505 from just five starts. Owned by Winter Park Partners and trained by Richard E. Dutrow Jr., ZETTERHOLM became a late Triple Crown nominee after a maiden special weight win on Feb. 4 and an allowance score on March 4, both at Aqueduct.

ZETTERHOLM is one of nine stakes winners in SILVER TRAIN’s first two crops, and has helped push his sire to sixth on the nation’s leading third-crop sires list, over the likes of War Front, Rockport Harbor, Congrats, Bellamy Road and Artie Schiller – all who stand for far more than SILVER TRAIN’s $7,000 fee! SILVER TRAIN has been an incredible source of runners and winners. In his first two crops (the oldest now 4), 3 out of every 4 of his foals have started to date, and more than two-thirds of his starters have won. . . Talk about locomotion!
